The GRFC at the UNECE Regional Forum 2025
On 3 April 2025, the Global Regeneration and Finance Collaborative (GRFC) joined the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, contributing to a high-level dialogue on how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the Europe and Central Asia region.
Held under the theme “Advancing Sustainable, Inclusive, Science- and Evidence-based Solutions for the 2030 Agenda, Leaving No One Behind,” the Forum convened leading policymakers, institutions, and innovators to explore strategies for systems-level change in response to today’s most urgent challenges.
Spotlight on Innovation: Public-Private Partnerships for Regeneration
The GRFC co-hosted a roundtable side event that examined how next-generation Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) can drive regenerative development and resilient reconstruction.
Rooted in years of cross-sector collaboration, the session brought together experts in governance, development finance, and digital transformation. Speakers emphasised that sustainable innovation must balance rapid technological change with the human factor, the social, cultural, and ethical dimensions that ensure meaningful and lasting impact.
Ukraine in Focus: Systems-Based Reconstruction and Peacebuilding
A central focus of the discussion was Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery. Panellists called for financially viable PPP models that integrate:
- Economic recovery with inclusive job creation.
- Environmental restoration, including climate-smart agriculture and landscape regeneration.
- Social cohesion through decentralised governance and community-led approaches.
Case studies from across Europe and beyond demonstrated how nature-based solutions can be embedded into infrastructure and community development, offering blueprints for long-term peacebuilding and equitable economic growth.
Building Forward Through Collaboration
The session closed with a clear message: meeting the twin challenges of conflict recovery and climate instability requires regenerative models that are inclusive, science-based, and financially scalable.
The GRFC’s participation at the UNECE Regional Forum reaffirmed its commitment to bridging finance and regeneration through practical, multi-sector partnerships. By advancing cooperative investment frameworks and resilient development models, the GRFC continues to help shape pathways towards a sustainable, regenerative future for the UNECE region and beyond.
